What should I write in a greeting card?

Write one or two lines that could only be meant for this person: a memory, a thank-you or a wish for the year ahead. That beats a long general verse. Start with their name and end with yours, even on a digital card, and on a group card list everyone it's from. Some starting points:

  • Christmas: “Merry Christmas from all of us. Thank you for being there this year.”
  • New Year: “Happy New Year! Here's to seeing more of you in the year ahead.”
  • Mother's Day: “Happy Mother's Day, Ammi. Thank you for everything, every day.”

How do I make a greeting card on my iPhone?

In Inviteos, on your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Choose the occasion.
  2. Add the recipient's name and your message.
  3. Pick a style and colour palette.
  4. Choose a size for sharing or printing.
  5. Preview the card and download it.

Can I send the card on WhatsApp or print it?

Yes. Download the card and send it on WhatsApp, by email or on social media, or print it. For print, 5×7 inches is the most common size in the US and fits an A7 envelope; in the UK and Europe, A6 (105×148 mm) and A5 (148×210 mm) are standard.

Greeting card questions

When is Mother’s Day?

It depends on the country. The US, Canada, Australia, India and Pakistan celebrate it on the second Sunday in May. In the UK and Ireland it’s Mothering Sunday, three weeks before Easter, so it usually falls in March.

When should Christmas cards be sent?

If you’re posting them, aim for the first half of December, and earlier for cards going abroad, because the post gets slower before Christmas. A card sent on WhatsApp or by email arrives at once, so it can go any day up to Christmas.

How do you sign a card from the whole family?

Write “Love from” and then every name, usually the adults first and the children after, such as “Love from Ahmed, Sara, Zain and Ayla”. If the list is long, “Love from the Khan family” works too.

Is it OK to send a greeting card on WhatsApp?

Yes. For most friends and family it’s normal, and it arrives the moment you send it. Someone who keeps cards on the shelf, often an older relative, may like a printed copy more, and you can print the same card.
